What are some reliable brands for computer power supplies?

Monday, August 30th, 2010

Also, should what sort of levels should I be looking for in a supply (350, 400, 500, etc)?

After I installed a new video card my computer began freezing during bootup whenever I turned it on (but not if I restarted it once it was running). After a bit of research (and a lot of procrastination) I think the problem is the power supply. My current supply is 300w and it looks like, with the new card, my computer’s max draw is over that (I’ve estimated it at around 308W, but I haven’t been able to find specific numbers for specific parts and have had to use the next best numbers I could find). Having never thought about power supplies before, I have no idea which brands are accurate and reliable. I have heard stories (which may or may not be true) that some companies promise more than their products can deliver (500w on the unit but with a real performance of 250w). What are some good (and preferably cheap) brands and models?

Thank you kindly for any help you can give.

Ferrari Formula 1 Models

Monday, August 23rd, 2010

Over the last few decades thousands of Ferrari models have been produced by hundreds of model car makers the world over, some of these models are made very well showing both good quality and detail but there are other models that really do leave a lot to be desired.  We have ourselves collected Ferrari models for many years and we have come across many of the diecast models produced by the various makers.

However, recently we have been introduced to, and now stock, some of the very best 1/43rd diecast models of Ferrari that we have ever seen.  These models are the Ixo La Storia Formula 1 Ferrari models.  Each brilliant model of a Ferrari Formula 1 car covers the history of both the car and it’s driver.  The models are all limited edition and the complete series are collected over a five year period, coming out every month.

The presentation of these models really are second to none!  They each come in a very clever ‘tin’ book which can be stored away on either a shelf or in a bookcase, just like any ordinary paper book, they can then be taken from the shelf and opened, just like any book and used for reference.  Accompanying each beautiful model is an illustrated booklet covering the history of the driver and his car.

The drivers in this series include such great names in Formula 1 as Alberto Ascari, Juan Manuel Fangio, John Surtess and some of the later drivers such as Michael Schumacher.

If you enjoy collecting cars and/or ephemera from either Formula 1 Racing or, if you enjoy collecting Ferrari diecast models, then this series is a must for you and definitely not to be missed.

Gino loves fast cars, especially fast italian cars.    Gino heads his own site which specialises in old and antique teddy bears whose emphasis is on their history or provenance but he now has a section called Gino Racing where you will find some great diecast and tinplate model cars.

Find More Enjoyment Because Of The Diversity Of Coffee Machines …

Saturday, July 31st, 2010

Coffee can be enjoyed in many different ways and many different flavors. It would seem that coffee drinkers all have their own preference as to exactly how and when they want their coffee. They all agree that fresh is better. In order to get the freshest coffee possible, it may mean that you prepare it yourself from bean to cup. Read on and discover more enjoyment due to the variety of coffee machines.

Although we see coffee as brown, the beans are actually green before being processed. During roasting, everything about the bean is changed; their color, aroma, etc. You can purchase machines that will allow you to roast fresh coffee beans at home.

When you decide to roast coffee yourself, then you are able to select how it will be roasted. You can roast it as light or as dark as you like. The lighter the roast, the more caffeine and the stronger the taste, while the darker the roast, the smoother it will be.

Now that you have freshly roasted coffee, you may choose to grind it as well. There are many different sized coffee grinders available for home use, and they come in a large variety of styles. You may never be able to drink coffee from a store again.

Try something different if you dare, and go for espresso or cappuccino. You can also make these at home with the proper machine. You will probably never spend the money purchasing a cup of coffee out again. It may taste sinful, however, it actually has less caffeine than a regular cup because of the way that it is brewed.

You have a large selection to choose from when it comes to espresso and cappuccino machines. There are both expensive and inexpensive versions. The newer models will be the most expensive. They use air pressure to force the water onto the coffee and they weigh much less and take up much less room.

You can purchase one of the original espresso machines at a very fair price. It will be a little more work to make the espresso, however, some people actually prefer this type to the more automated way. The like to have more control over the finished product.

Even if you decide that you would like to only stay with regular coffee, there are so many models of machines that you can choose from. It will just depend on if you want your coffee in a hurry, or maybe one cup at a time. However you want your coffee, there is a machine to prepare it, just for you.
