Finding the Best Coffee Maker For Your Home | Stove Top Coffee Makers

Sunday, September 19th, 2010

There are a few steps to find out which of the best coffee makers would be perfect for your home. Like most things in life, there is no “one size fits all” solution when it comes to coffee makers. Different people need different things, and what is perfect for one coffee drinker may be completely wrong for someone else.

The first thing you need to consider when purchasing a coffee maker is your budget. If you are on a tight budget, then a stove top percolator is your best bet. These nifty coffee makers brew the best java for very little money.

If you are willing to spend a bit more, you can get nice coffee machines for a few hundred dollars. These range from espresso and cappuccino machines, automatic drip coffee makers and the ever popular single cup coffee maker.

Once you have decided your budget, you should consider what kind of coffee maker you want. Coffee makers range from the very simply and manual machines such as stove top percolators and French press coffee makers, which while very inexpensive, can be a bit more effort and time intensive. On the other hand, if you have decided that you’re willing to spend a bit more, you get automatic coffee machines. If you are a gourmet coffee lover who likes to lovingly brew the best espresso, you may like to get an espresso machine. If you live by yourself or have a small family, and wish to get a coffee maker which is simple and easy to use and clean, and does makes coffee one cup at a time, you would probably be most interested in obtaining a single cup coffee maker. On the other hand, if you want automation and the ability to make multiple cups of coffee at a time, you would probably be more interested in Bunn and Cuisinart coffee makers.

There are so many options when it comes to coffee makers. So your best bet is to go through some coffee maker reviews that are available for free online, and find out which machine is best for your needs. A little time invested in research will reap rewards over the years. A bit of reading will also save you the frustration you would feel if you got the wrong coffee maker by mistake.

What coffee maker does not use plastic tanks and pipes so that we don’t get plastic in our coffee?

Nearly every drip coffee maker has a plastic heating tank and all have plastic pipes to bring hot water to the coffee grounds. I am concerned that many people are drinking plastic along with their coffee – and most plastics are toxic. I have contacted several of the most popular manufacturers – none uses stainless steel for delivery pipes and only a few pots have a stainless steel tank. Considering how many people use these drip coffee makers, it seems a serious public health concern.

Brew in style with these beautiful retro-futuristic coffee makers

Boring old drip coffee makers have no personality. You want to make a statement with your kitchen appliances, don’t you? Well take a gander at Kees van der Westen’s line of espresso machines, which would have me drinking twice as much coffee just because I would want to play with them every time I passed by.

Looking like they belong attached to a ‘57 Chevy, these machines pump out hot cups of espresso using multiple boilers that can be switched on or off independently of each other, allowing for very closely regulated temperatures. They aren’t set to go into production until next year, and when they do, expect high price tags. But just look at ‘em!
