6 Cup Espresso Stovetop Coffeemaker in Polished Alluminum Overview

COF6000 With the invention of the stovetop espresso coffee maker, espresso – long a staple of Italian caf s and bars – became available for home consumption. AeroPress Coffee and Espresso Maker with 350 Micro Filters and BONUS Snickerdoodle Flavored Gourmet Coffee

Espresso Machine The AeroPress is an entirely new way to make coffee, American style or Espresso style for use in lattes, cappucinos and other espresso based drinks. AeroPress brews simply delicious coffee, 1-4 cups per pressing. Ideal water temperature and faster brewing yields rich flavor with lower acidity and without bitterness. Other brewing processes use near boiling water and long exposure to coffee grounds. Quickly brew a variety of coffee drinks including an Americano or an espresso-style shot for use in lattes or cappuccinos. Its total-immersion system permits extraction at a moderate temperature and a short brew time. Water and grounds are mixed together for 10 seconds, then gentle air pressure pushes the mix through a micro-filter in just 20 seconds, which avoids the bitterness of long processes such as drip brewing. The air pressure also gently squeezes the last goodness from the grounds, further enriching the flavor. The total brewing time of only 30 seconds results in an exceptionally smooth brew.

MIY: Strong, Starbucks-Quality Iced Coffee for a Steal

Tuesday, June 22nd, 2010

While the weather heats up, we’re cooling off with homemade iced-coffee brews that even the S-buck would be proud of. If you read this article and you’re already using a stove-top Bialetti for your “La Dolce Vita-Quality Espresso,” good for you, your Starbucks for a Steal project is halfway done.

If you haven’t yet fired up an espresso percolator, friends, we pity you for missing out on one of the great java joys! But never fear, this recipe works for standard drip machines as well.

MIY: Strong, Starbucks-Quality Iced Coffee For a Steal

  • If you’re using a 6-cup Bialetti stovetop percolator (or similar), brew your espresso as usual. If you’re using a drip coffee maker, double the amount of coffee grounds per serving.
  • When your coffee concentrate finishes brewing, pour into a bowl (preferably metal) and place in the freezer for 20 minutes, laying a pot holder underneath to prevent freezer shelf damage. We like to use a bowl for a wider distribution of frostiness which leads to faster chilling. Also, if you use sweetener, add it to your coffee before freezing so it dissolves properly.
  • Remove the coffee bowl from freezer, pour over ice and serve with milk or half and half if you are really in for a luxe treat. It is so strong, so good and so refreshing, you’ll be on a java high all day, patting yourself on the back for your savings the whole time.
