Just because he’s starting opening day, doesn’t mean he’s the ace. CM Wang is the ace. Also, teams don’t need a true “Ace”. Sure, it’s nice 2 have a guy who can win 20 games, but most teams don’t have that.
Mussina and Pettite were scheduled to pitch or certian days, and they have to pitch on those days, otherwise they’ll get messed up when Wang comes back. That’s the reason Torre made the move to Pavano.

The Philadelphia Phillies took a 1-0 lead over the Cincinnati Reds in their NL division series with a 4-0 shutout on Wednesday.
Roy Halladay, who made his first career postseason start, pitched a perfect game. The way Halladay played on Wednesday and with Cole Hamels and Roy Oswalt yet to flex their baseball muscles, the defending two-time NL champion Phillies may well be on their way to their third consecutive pennant.
His first perfect game was on May 29 at Florida. This was ‘Doctober’ Halladay’s second no-hitter for the year. In postseason history, it was the second no-hitter in since Don Larsen threw a perfect game for the New York Yankees against Brooklyn in the 1956 World Series.
A sacrifice fly by Chase Utley allowed a run for the Phillies in the first inning. Halladay singled for another run and Shane Victorino hit a two-run single for a three-run inning in the second.
Reds pitcher Edinson Volquez looked like a rookie against the more experienced Phillies squad, allowing all four runs in the second and third innings.
The Phillies host Game 2 on Friday as heavy favorites to win this series.

At least two tornadoes struck Wednesday near Flagstaff, Arizona, injuring seven people, derailing a train and damaging more than 100 homes, authorities said.
One tornado caused “about a mile of destruction,” said Sheriff Bill Pribil of Coconino County. It damaged at least 30 mobile homes, blew the windows out of about 100 homes and caused a train derailment, he said.
At least seven people were injured, the National Weather Service’s Flagstaff office said. None of the injuries in Coconino County were believed to be serious, Pribil said.
Both tornadoes touched down in the town of Bellemont, the National Weather Service reported.
Lena Kent, spokeswoman for Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railway, said 28 train cars were derailed and that the track itself suffered minor damages.
“It was stopped (in Bellemont) because of the tornado warning, but unfortunately, the tornado came through and actually hit the train, derailing 28 cars,” she said.
No one was injured in the derailment, she said. The company hoped to get the rail lines reopened by midnight.
Radar continued to show several thunderstorms in central and north-central Arizona capable of producing tornadoes with little or no advance notice, CNN Meteorologist Sean Morris said. A tornado watch continues for central and north-central Arizona until 5 p.m. (8 p.m. ET).

If the guy was any good, the results would speak for themselves.
Bottom line: At one time, Hammer was a top talent in this market who snorted it all away. ESPN figured they’d throw him on in a slot no one listens to, with a partner no one listens to, to see if he could keep his nose clean long enough to throw him in a time slot where they could make some money.
He didn’t and the experiment failed. ESPN has moved on.
To throw all the blame on Greggo insinuates Choppy will now excel with “insert new host here.” I predict the guy will continue to suck no matter who his partner is.
There’s a reason the guy doesn’t come on unitl 7pm, and that reason isn’t Greg Williams.

how to stop sacramento bee telemarketers from calling?

I ordered Sac Bee, telemarketers started calling first day I ordered, called me 5 times in next 10 days. Paper was not delivered 3 of those 10 days so I canceled and have been barraged with telemarketer calls from the bee some from Louisiana but most from Sacramento. I don’t answer now but using up cell time. thanks for help

And if so, how come? Is it to prevent hysteria (an understandable situation if so) but what I, we don’t understand is why an unsuccessful attempt wouldn’t be front page news if not only to promote the “good” and success behind the FBI, CIA, NSA, the Patriot Act and such. I am not one to believe in conspiracies but I find it hard to believe that there has not been another attempt on US soil after September 11. I am thankful for no such attacks and love my country but are we being kept in the dark? This was actually dinner conversation initiated by my 16 year old daughter after what she called a “heated debate” in her modern history class.

I just logged in to fluidnow.com, and it is showing the balance of my credits for the up to 7 more weeks, but nothing about the new 13 weeks a state could get if over 6.5%. does this mean the state decides if they want to give it? Our state is in a real bad way and the jobs are not available. I broke down the balance and I will get 3 more checks, but it doesnt say when yet. I tried to claim weeks and it says no weeks to claim. They sure have the website screwed up and I am sure others will agree.
